Since it's been over two weeks since the elections, there's really no need for a re-cap. Democrats lost big, yes, that's was the story dominating headlines from every possible news source. Fox News saw this as a huge victory for conservatives and a rebirth of the RepubliTeaCorp party; proof that 'Americans have spoken out' against this socialist, leftist, communist, racist, dentist agenda. So now that the bloodbath is over, conservatives, Tea Partiers, and independents who gave the GOP the magic wand this go-round are expecting big changes.
The message has been clear, they want small government, less spending, jobs, and a more socially conservative mindset. These words all sounded like a symphony to the middle-American working class voters, who became so inspired and let's say "saved" by the Tea Party and GOP machine. The big question is what will happen to these same voters in 2011? Will they drop out of politics until the presidential elections, but loyally vote straight red? Will they pay attention to what their newly elected Congress is doing and keep tabs on their promises? Or, will the Republican Party experience even more of an identity crisis/meltdown, having to chose between isolating moderates and isolating Tea Party crazservatives resulting in a big ol' messy government shutdown? I honestly don't know, but we'll all have to wait and see what actually happens after January 1st.
So far it seems like the GOP has perhaps accidentally, or maybe just shamelessly, already shown the American people that they are in fact planning on breaking all of the promises they made along the campaign trail, except for of course the persistent and vigorous battle against anyone or anything left of conservative. Obama has been #1 on that list probably since birth (Kenyan birth at that!), and Republicans have very $eriou$ intere$t$ in ensuring he will be out of office in 2012. But until then, there's still people who are waiting with baited breath to see what the new Congress has up its sleeves. First thing to take care of on their list? Jobs! Oh wait, no. The economy! Hmmm, no. Ohhh actually.... it's... defunding NPR. Defunding NPR is the first vote Republicans in the House have tried to push since their Congressional victory, and they have already failed.
Here's House Minority Whip Eric Cantor defending Juan Williams and railing against NPR.

Well, it's good to know the GOP is concerned about jobs- jobs of Fox News commentators and corporate banksters. Watch out PBS -or in fact, any organization not owned by Newscorp.
New Republican Leadership... already doing absolutely nothing and attempting to make people's lives worse. Thank you, America
